ANKITA KANABAR A well- known name in Marathi films and TV shows, Shreyas Talpade won critical acclaim with his debut film alt39 Iqbalalt39. Although most of his films thereafter have been multi- starrers, his work hasnalt39t gone unnotice
d. His past few films have been hardcore comedies. Ask Shreyas about his preference to that genre and he says, ” When I did serious films like alt39 Iqbalalt39 and alt39 Doralt39, people told me I do only serious films. Hence, I started doing comedies, and now people ask me, when will you do roles like alt39 Iqbalalt39 again? So, its funny. But its also good to know that people want to see me again in that kind of a strong role.” But the actor admits that the genre isnalt39t simple. ” I think comedy is difficult, its not really easy to make people laugh, though it might appear easy. A lot of things, like the proper timing, and everything is involved, in fact, my next film with Priyadarshan has been my most difficult films till date,” says the alt39 Welcome to Sajjanpuralt39 star.
His last film alt39 Housefull 2alt39 has proved to be the second biggest opener this year after alt39 Agneepathalt39. Shreyas is understandably ecstatic, ” It feels wonderful! See, the audience isnalt39t foolish, and if the audience likes something in a film only then does it become successful.” At the moment, the alt39 Golmaal Returnsalt39 actor is working on Priyadarshans next, alt39 Kamaal Dhamaal, Malamaalalt39, previously considered a sequel to alt39 Malamaal Weeklyalt39, but Shreyas clarifies, ” Its a different story line altogether.
We thought it could be a possible sequel to the film, but no, its a fresh film. Some actors from alt39 Malamaal Weeklyalt39 return in this one like Om Puriji and Paresh Rawalji, but there are new additions like me, Nana Patekarji, and Madhurima. I play a lazy fellow, a loser, a little clever but not very intelligent.” Doing a film with Sajid Khan, and then going to Priyadarshans set. We wonder how different is working with both these directors, specially when both strive to make entertaining films, for the masses. Shreyas replies, ” Its a completely different experience. Sajid is over the top. He has this larger- thanlife presentation, he is too loud. But Priyan sir is subtle. His films are situational comedies with no punches or anything. Priyan sir is very earthy and so are his films. Ialt39ve learnt a lot while working on this film from him and Nana sir,” concludes the actor, as Priyadarshan calls him for his shot.
Shreyas will also be seen in Shirish Kunders alt39 Jokeralt39 along with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha and plans on the production front, to make a serious film like alt39 Iqbalalt39 also exist.
