Ujjain : Independence Day will be celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the district on August 15, 2014. Collector BM Sharma chaired a preparatory meeting along with concerned officials on Wednesday.
Collector handed over different responsibilities to officials and asked them to complete them as early as possible. Main ceremony of Independence Day will be celebrated at Dussehra Maidan at district headquarter. Chief guest will hoist the tricolour and will salute the parade. Flag hoisting ceremony will be organised at all government departments between 7 to 8 am on August 15. A water proof tent will be raised at the venue considering the rainy season. PWD was asked to spread grit across the ground. Ujjain Municipal Corporation will arrange tankers for drinking water. 1000 chairs will be arranged at the venue for guests and public. DISCOM will arrange constant power supply and a generator.
Collector also informed that a rehearsal for Independence Day ceremony will be organised from August 7 and the final rehearsal will be held at 9 am on August 13. Four cultural programmes will be included in the main event. Yoga and physical exercise programmes will be included. Students who have bagged merit ranks in class X and XII will be prized.
