Adarsh report submitted
MUMBAI: 14 months after it was set up, the high profile Adarsh inquiry commission finally submitted its interim report to the state government on Friday. It is a 106- page report on the two crucial issues of
title of the controversial Adarsh land and whether it was reserved for Kargil heroes. The report was handed over to Chief Secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad in a sealed envelope. Sources said that the report would be tabled before the cabinet first and then tabled in the legislative assembly along with the governments Action Taken Report. – CHAITANYA MARPAKWAR
Auto strike on despite fare hike
MUMBAI: The State government finally yielded before the pressure tactics of the auto rickshaw union and passed a rickshaw fare hike of one rupee to the end user, taking the minimum fare from Ras 11 to Rs 12. The fare will be applicable from April 20, that is Friday. However, the Sharad Rao- led union is still firm on the strike from Monday.
SC gives relief to Nupur Talwar
NEW DELHI: The CBI on Friday told the Supreme Court that it will not arrest dentist Nupur Talwar in the Aarushi murder case as long as her petition seeking the cancellation of a non- bailable warrant against her is pending before the court. The bench had sought a commitment from the Central Bureau of Investigation that it would not arrest Talwar till her plea was pending.
