Adding life to expressions, the new craze of “Velfies” has taken the Internet by a storm. Technology seems to out-do itself at every chance it gets! The “velfie” is proof of just that. Coined “Velfie” as a short term for Video Selfie, this trend has been making a rage all over the Internet. Read on to know more about the video revolution.

Well in case you haven’t logged onto your social channels lately, we decided to break it down for you. All you need is your phone, a few friends and if you’re up for it then a creative idea. Taking a video of yourself with the front facing camera of your gadget, (or the one behind if you like a challenge) for not more than 10 seconds long is a basic selfie!

Adding sound and human expression to just another picture, the “velfie” has posed to be the perfect way to capture the attention of the masses. With a number of apps supporting this new trend, the “velfie” age has finally begun.

German-developed Dubsmash has become a phenomenon not only with the usual masses but also with celebrities. With videos of our very own Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh so many more lip syncing famous Bollywood dialogues and epic songs, fans and users are addicted to the amusement a velfie can bring.

Dubsmash claims to have been downloaded more than 50 million times across 192 countries, which gives us some strong statistics to join the video revolution.

Frankly.me is another app that has been gaining popularity in recent times. The android and iOS app has given the Indian public a new way to connect with our politicians.

The app allows the people of the internet to pose questions to their choice of sports icon, celebrity or politicians, and then enables the person questioned to answer with a video themselves. Giving a personal touch, and having greater impact on their following, the app is said to have made a platform for people to directly talk to and get to know the people in question. Thrilling and exciting the “velfie” is giving new and better meaning to communication.

Having caught the storm by hand Rammohan Sundaram, co-founded the Indian app Velfie, which gave our much loved icons a better way to engage with their audiences.

“Selfies will remain because pictures will always be there but we’re creating a whole new space that’s more exciting, more engaging and more social in nature,” says Sundaram.

Rest assured the “Velfie” is here to stay, and you’re going to have your Facebooks, Twitters, and Instagram’s flooded with them.
