In order to reach Arunachal Pradesh you can take flights from major cities to Tezpur in Assam which is 216 km from Itanagar. The state is yet to be connected by rail but you can board trains to Harmutty in Assam which is 33 km from Itanagar.

It is the state capital and has a number of attractions to offer. The major attractions of Itanagar are Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Itanagar Fort, The State Museum, Ganga Lake, and Polo Park. It is located 10,000 feet above sea level and is to the south of Tibet. It is surrounded with clear water lakes which will capture your heart and mind with its beauty. The Tawang Monastry is a 400 year old and one of the largest monasteries in India. It has a 28 ft high golden statue of Lord Buddha. The Sela Pass is among the highly visited tourist destinations here, other places which can be visited in Tawang are Taktsang Gompa, Gorichen Peak, Shonga-tser Lake, Nuranang Waterfalls, Pankang Teng Tso Lake, Bumla Pass, and Jaswant Garh.

Roing is blessed with a diverse terrain. It is situated on the bank of Dibang River. The tranquil tourist spot is amidst the valley, making its location an absolute beauty. Roing consists of ancient archaeological sites and amazing waterfalls. The famous Nehru Van Udyan is a stunning forest park on the banks of Deopani River. On the outskirts of Roing you can also spot vibrant orange orchards. The other places which are also worth a visit are Mehao Lake and Sally Lake.

It is one of the attractive getaways in Arunachal Pradesh. It offers an amazing view of the snow peaked Himalayas. Being situated 8000 ft above sea level, Bomdila gives you the chance to have some quiet and peaceful moments with your loved ones. You can also take a short tour of the Sessa Orchid Sanctuary which has 2600 orchids of 80 species. To visit these orchids many trekking routes have been developed.

It is located in the west Kameng District and is a special treat for those seeking an adventure. You could go hiking, trekking and river rafting in the Kameng River through the hills that surround Bhalukpong. You can also visit the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary. You can witness the local Nyethidow Festival in the month of March.

It is 270 km from Itanagar and is one of the oldest towns of Arunachal Pradesh. It is named as the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. The main tributary of Bhrahmaputra, Siang River flows by Pasighat. It has a variety of flora and fauna to mesmerize its visitors. Pangin and Daying Ering Wild Life Sanctuary are popular places to visit in Pasighat for its various animal species.

It is located 42 km from Bomdila. It is a popular hill station best known for its picturesque valley between Bomdila and Tawang. The land of Dirang brings in fresh produce of Kiwi and apple in its massive orchards. You can set your camp or do some bird watching at Mandla. You can also go back in time by taking a trip to the hill top and take a glimpse of the historical fort standing here.

In terms of area it is the largest National Park in India and is situated in the district of Chelang. It covers an area of 1,985 sq km. The park is surrounded by Dapha Bum Range and Patakai Range. The green blankets and alpine forests of the park offer an amazing experience while observing the wildlife. Namdapha is home to species of animals like Asiatic Small Bears, Eurasian Otters, Wolves, Clouded Leopards, Dholes, Red Foxes, Tigers, Red Pandas, Musk Deer and Fishing Cats. It also contains 500 species of birds.

Any Domestic tourist visiting Arunachal Pradesh is required to obtain an Inner Line Permit.
Foreign tourists intending to visit Arunachal Pradesh require the Restricted Area Permit. The foreign tourists can obtain the Protected Area Permit from all Indian Missions abroad, All Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRROs) at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chief Immigration Officer, Chennai, Home Ministry, Govt. of India and Home Commissioner, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar for a period of 10 days for a group consisting of four or more persons. The application giving details of name, passport number, its issuing authority and the expiry date, place of birth, profession, proposed duration of stay and the purpose of visit should be made to the Home Commissioner Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar or Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
