Yuvan Sharma and Prabhat Pandey grabbed seven wickets between them as Anjuman-I-Islam bowled out Al-Barkaat for 202 and then reached stumps at 91/4 in 23 overs on day one of their semifinal in the Harris Shield at MCA Ground, BKC.
Winning the toss, Anjuman put their opposition in to bat first. Al-Barkaat thus posted a commendable 202 in 58.2 overs. Opener Om Bangar played well for his 69 in 56 balls with 14 fours and one maximum. Deven Yadav also made 47 with 7 fours.
Leg spinner Yuvan Sharma took (4-50), off spinner Prabhat Pandey picked (3-56) while left arm spinner Abdurrahman Khan also grabbed two wickets. In reply, the Anjuman outfit finished with 91-4 in 23 overs at stumps on day 1. Afzal Shaikh made 34, with six fours.
The 128th Harris Shield semifinal toss at MCA, BKC was conducted by special guest Ashish Redij from Red Fox along with MSSA Cricket Secretary Nadim Memon. MSSA participation certificates were distributed to all the cricketers. For the very first time in the history of the tournament, SG balls are being used.
Dnyandeep Seva Mandal Stutter against Modern English
In the other semifinal, batting first, Modern English posted 114 all out in 39.5 overs with batter Kanav Saini top scoring with 41. For Dnyandeep Seva Mandal, left arm spinner Zaid Khan bowled brilliantly and was thus rewarded with a six-wicket haul, (6-19) while off-spinner Virat Yadav grabbed three wickets (3-43).
Chasing down the total during their first innings, the Dnyandeep Seva Mandal unit finished day one with 95-7 in 40 overs. The Modern English bowlers had a field day with Shashwat Naik, Vivaan Jobanputra and left arm spinner Dikshant Patil picking up two wickets apiece.
