Television actress Surbhi Tiwari, who became popular as Aradhana from 'Shagun', married Delhi-based pilot and businessman, Praveen Kumar Sinha in May 2019. Three years after tying the knot, the actress has filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws accusing them of domestic violence and cheating.

In an interaction with ETimes, Surbhi shared, that soon after marriage she realised that Praveen and her were incompatible. She also stated that her husband who had agreed to move to Mumbai, refused to do so later, which affected her schedule as an actress, and she was financially dependent on him. She also mentioned about starting a family but Praveen wasn't up for it either.

Surbhi added that she has filed a complaint and that her jewellery and silverware are still with her in-laws, which she hasn't got back.

She said, "Praveen told me that he would not give me a divorce and that I could move the court for it. I have now decided to take the legal route against them. I will soon file for divorce.”

In an earlier interview, when asked how she met Praveen, Surbhi had said, “Some common friends arranged our meeting in October, 2018. Praveen is from Patna, but he has been working in Delhi for the past 18 years. He will shift base to Mumbai after marriage. Despite belonging to an affluent family, he is simple like me. Also, both of us hate partying. However, unlike me, he is calm, and he has brought calmness to my life. He is the anchor I was looking for so long. He has been extremely supportive of my career and loves me the way I am. At a time when most people expect their suitors to be in shape, he didn’t mind me being overweight.”

She took a break from acting to focus on her personal life. “I had been wanting to marry for the past five years, but I didn’t want to tie the knot with an actor. All they talk about is their shows and ratings. I refused many proposals, as I wanted to talk about other things with my man. So, I took a break from acting to meet guys outside the profession. My mother told me to take up new work only after I got married," she added.

The 41-year-old has been a part of many television shows over the years. These include 'Diya Aur Baati Hum', 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', 'Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan', 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo', 'Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli', and 'Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka'.
