ZTE too

ZTE, the Chinese multinational headquartered in Shenzhen — which is into wireless, exchange, access, optical transmission and data — is coming in with a mobile phone in India.

ZTE’s Nubia sub-brand is coming to India with its Z9 Mini. So far, it was mostly confined to China.  Incidentally, ZTE is one of the top five largest smartphone manufacturers in its home market of China, and in the top ten, worldwide.

This phone has a 5-inch 1080p touch screen. Its main camera is 16 megapixels, with a LED flash.  There’s also an 8 MM selfie snapper, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable storage, and a 2,900 mAh battery.  It runs the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system, underneath ZTE’s Nubia UI 2.8.

Announcing this, phonetablet-gadget.blogspot.in said: “Pricing for the Nubia Z9 Mini in India is still a mystery, but keeping in mind that it costs CNY 1,499 in China ($241), it can’t be much more expensive in the subcontinent when it does land.  A price tag of around INR 16,000 seems plausible.”

The fitness band

While Xiaomi (recently covered) has brought on its Mi Band in India, priced at Rs 999, the sister-company of Micromax Mobiles, Yu Televentures, has also unveiled their version of the fitness band, called YuFit.  It too comes at the identical price.

SiliconIndia.com says: “Both devices are compatible with popular Smartphone operating systems like Android and iOS through Bluetooth.  The YuFit pairs with Healthify Me app whereas Mi Band pairs with Mi Fit app, both the apps are developed by respective companies and are easily available in Play Store and App Store.”

What does it do? The YuFit band tracks how far you’ve walked, your sleep patterns and calculates how many calories you burned.  Besides this, it also has a small OLED display on the band, which also allows it to show alerts for calls and messages.

Full-fold and wireless

It’s a mouse, it’s wireless and it’s foldable. The Touch Scroll Laser Sensor calls itself “the most high end sensor (which) bring more accurate and quick reaction for moving.” It claims to also be 20 times quicker than an optical mouse.

It comes in a super slim 9mm format, and has a wireless speed of 2.4 Ghz technology which works upto 10 m.  It has a high-end laser sensor to offer a more accurate and quick reaction.  This claims to be the world’s first 180 degrees full foldable wireless mouse.

After three minutes of no movement, the mouse goes into deep sleep mode.  This is held out as a power saving feature. Press any key to re-activate.

Price, Rs 1999.

The sexy cycle

The humble cycle ruled India in decades past, but not because it was considered sexy.  That was because resource-poor India was still struggling to find ways of mass transportation.  Cities like Pune and Bangalore come to mind, in terms of the many cyclists that once were very visible on their streets.

Now comes information that cycling deserves all that attention, because it’s a sexy way of going about life.  trendz.co.uk has come out with an infographic, giving you ’10 ways cycling improves your sex life’.

Cycling, we’re reminded, improves fitness (muscle strength, core strength and immune system), performance (better fitness, more energy and restful sleep), blood flow, stamina, lung capacity, body confidence, makes you more attractive, releases feel-good endorphins, increases the sex drive, and reduces impotence.  “Men over 50 who cycle for three hours a week have a 30% lower impotence risk,” it adds.

Skateboards, going electro

An electro skateboard? Heard of that? When you think about electric vehicles, skateboards are probably not first on the list.  But thanks to new tech upgrades, the toy which was long considered just for teenagers is breathing new life into daily commutes.

This information is shared by Samantha Murphy Kelly, on mashable.com

The Mellow Drive now allows to just include this add on to your existing skateboard.  Currently being crowd-funded on Kickstarter, the Mellow Drive is a battery-powered electric-drive motor that mounts onto the underside of virtually any skateboard.

With it, riders will be able to cruise at speeds of upto 25 miles per hour (40.2 kmph).  It has a swappable battery, which lasts for a thousand charges.
