In a new leak, the iPhone 17 Air battery has been spotted, revealing just how wafer-thin it wil lbe. Apple has reportedly achieved the thinnest iPhone battery the company has ever produced—measuring just 2.49 mm in thickness, according to newly leaked images posted on a Naver blog. The report says that the iPhone 17 Air battery is nearly half as thick as the standard iPhone 17 Pro battery, giving you a fair idea of just how ultra‑thin the battery will be.

Earlier reports suggest the iPhone 17 Air is likely to be just 5.5 mm thick overall, making it the slimmest iPhone to date. The leaked battery images show just how thin the iPhone 17 Air battery will be, and to achieve this level of thinness, Apple would have had to make a few compromises.

Reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will house a battery of just 2,800–2,900 mAh—far smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus (3,561 mAh) and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (3,900 mAh).

Despite the lower capacity, Apple is expected to rely on next‑gen high‑density silicon‑anode battery technology, alongside hardware‑software optimizations in iOS 26 and its efficient A19 chip and C1 modem, to deliver acceptable real‑world runtime.

Leaks also suggest that Apple's internal testing found out that only 60–70 percent of users could get a full day of use on a single charge with the iPhone 17 Air—compared to the 80–90 percent typical for other models. Apple may reintroduce an official battery case accessory for users needing extended runtime, to offset this compromise.

The iPhone 17 Air is tipped to feature a 6.6‑inch 120 Hz OLED display, a single rear 48-megapixel camera, and a 24-megapixel front camera. Rumours sugges that the iPhone 17 Air is likley to launch alongside the other iPhone 17 range, which is likely to include the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
