The German Foreign Ministry has launched a new Consular Services Portal, to make the student visa process faster and more convenient for Indian students. Starting February 17, 2025, students can apply for a visa online and complete the process digitally.
"A simple and safe online application process for visas to enter and remain in Germany is offered by the Consular Services Portal. Fill out your online application and have the German mission verify that it is complete beforehand. You will be ready to present your biometric information (picture and fingerprints) at the German mission when you meet there in person, according to the official announcement.
The portal provides an easy and secure online application procedure, where students can fill out application forms and upload required documents. The German authorities will review the application and documents, and then the VFS centre will notify the applicants for biometric data and document verification.
Students will need to attend a personal meeting at the VFS centre for biometric data collection and document verification. To be eligible, students must have a Blocked Account with a minimum of €992 per month or €11,904 per annum to prove they can cover living costs in Germany for one year.
The new online portal eliminates the need for physical paperwork, making the application process more efficient and streamlined.
