The ongoing Wimbledon hasn't been kind to the seeded players as most of the top stars have already been knocked out in the opening round of the tournament. Among the well-known stars who made an early exit was French Open 2025 winner Coco Gauff, who lost to unseeded Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska. Here are some more details about the 25-year-old Yastremska

Who is Dayana Yastremska?

The 25-year-old Ukrainian is ranked No. 42 in the world and has three WTA singles titles to her name. Her best result in a Grand Slam tournament was at the 2024 Australian Open when she reached the semifinals.

Yastremska, who celebrated her 25th birthday in May, detailed her allergy after she reached the final at the Nottingham Open earlier this month, saying at the time that “I really love playing on grass, even though I think I have a bit of an allergy to grass!”

Besides tennis, Yastremska showed off her signing skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tennis star hareleased two singles during the summer of 2020 titled “Thousands of Me” and “Favourite Track.”

On social media, Yastremska already had quite a following with 217,000 followers on Instagram. Yastremska paused her musical ambitions in 2021 during a provisional doping ban following a positive test for a prohibited substance, but she was cleared six months later after an independent tribunal ruled that the positive result was due to contamination of the test sample.

Yastremska's most painful moment came in February 2022 when she was forced her country following Russia's invasion. She spent two nights in an underground parking garage post which her parents decided to send her and her sister out of the country.

Anastasia Zakharova

Zakharova is currently ranked 95th in the WTA rankings. She overcame 87th-ranked Victoria Azarenka in the first round of Wimbledon, winning with scores of 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

In that match, Zakharova hit three aces but also committed five double faults, converted five break points, and made 24 unforced errors. Reaching the second round at Wimbledon equals her best-ever performance at this Grand Slam, a feat she accomplished last year. Her overall record for 2025 stands at 14 wins and 12 losses.

In June, Zakharova qualified for the Queen's Club Championships in London and achieved her first win against a top-30 opponent, defeating Donna Vekic (world number 21). However, she fell to second seed Madison Keys in the second round.
