Swiss Tennis legend Roger Federer made his appearance at the Centre Court and shook hands with England cricketer Joe Root as the picture of the same surfaced on social media. With Novak Djokovic taking on Alex de Minaur in a high-stakes match to qualify for the Wimbledon 2025 quarter-final, some of the biggest names were present.

Federer, who retired from professional tennis in 2023, won a staggering 20 grand slams and is third in the Open Era for the same behind Rafael Nadal (22) and Novak Djokovic (25). He is also the only male player to win five consecutive US Open titles, doing so from 2004 to 2008. Root, meanwhile, continues to play ODI and Test cricket for England. With 13115 Test runs, he is the fifth-highest run-getter in the format.

Both were wearing stylish outfits as Federer shook hands with Root before taking a seat in front of him. Ex-England seamer James Anderson was also seated among the spectators smiled at the moment.

Joe Root's batting in focus as England look to bounce back at Lord's against India

Despite being the premier batter for England, the Yorkshire batter's returns in the first two Tests against India has left a lot to be desired. Although the former Test skipper scored a match-winning fifty at Headingley in the fourth innings, his returns were disappointing at Edgbaston, making only 6 and 22 as England lost by 336 runs.

England and India will resume the battle for the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy on July 10 when the third Test begins at Lord's.
