Belarusian Tennis player and World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka cut a gloomy face after being stunned by America's Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon 2025 semi-final on July 10, Thursday at the Centre Court. Despite the huge amount of spectators cheering for her as she was leaving the court, it seemed to provide little comfort to her.

Sabalenka started as a firm favourite to reach the final at the start of the contest as Anisimova hadn't reached a final until now. Anisimova started brilliantly by winning the first set 6-4 but Sabalenka hit back to win the second 6-4. It was Anisimova yet again coming out on top with 6-4 scoreline again to make it to the final.

"She's such an incredible competitor, such an inspiration to me" - Amanda Anisimova on Aryna Sabalenka

With Anisimova stunning the World No.1 in the women's category to reach the final, the American couldn't help but praise the Belarusian for inspiring her and many others to take up the sport. Anisimova also thanked the crowd for cheering as equally as her opponent, stating, as quoted by BBC Sport:

"This doesn't feel real right now. Aryna is such a tough competitor. I was dying out there. She's such an incredible competitor, such an inspiration to me and so many other players. We had so many tough battles and to come on top today to get into the final at Wimbledon is incredibly special. The atmosphere was special today. I know she's number one but so many were cheering for me so I just want to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone."
