In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22, heightened security measures are being rolled out across all Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 venues with a key focus on protecting the airspace above stadiums.

A cutting-edge indigenous anti-drone system, known as the Vajra Super Shot, is now being deployed at every match venue to guard against aerial threats.

Developed by a Chennai based private Indian firm Big Bang Boom Solutions, the Vajra Super Shot system is part of a broader effort to prioritize safety for both players and fans. With IPL hosting matches in multiple cities across India and featuring international cricket stars, the stakes are higher than ever.

What is Vajra Super Shot?

Vajra Super Shot is a lightweight, handheld anti-drone weapon capable of detecting drones up to four kilometres away and disrupting their communication signals, effectively neutralising potential threats. Its portability and adaptive frequency jamming make it ideal for dynamic environments like crowded stadiums, as per a press release from BBBS.

This deployment underscores BBBS's commitment to national security and the advancement of indigenous defense technologies, aligning with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.

How does Vajra Super Shot work?

The anti-drone technology has the ability to detect unauthorized drones within a 4-kilometre radius of the stadium. Once detected, it can jam the drone’s communication signals, rendering it non-operational and eliminating any potential threat in the area. This neutralization capability ensures that the skies above IPL matches remain secure and under constant surveillance.

The deployment began with the high-profile Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings match at Eden Gardens and will continue for the remainder of the tournament.

With the IPL drawing massive crowds and global attention, this move shows the serious approach being taken to avoid any untoward incidents.
