Mumbai: In a light-hearted exchange on X, a customer raised concern with food delivery giant Zomato about an unexpected issue. The user, who had ordered shawarma from a famous restaurant in Bengaluru, complained about being charged ₹12 for packing, only to find the food wrapped in a box with advertisement of Bengaluru FC.

The incident came to light when a customer ordered shawarma through Zomato from Empire Restaurant and said that he paid Rs 12 extra for packaging. However, when he received the order, the shawarma was packed in the Indian Super League (ISL) team Bengaluru FC's box. The customer raised the issue on X and said that why is he paying extra for the advertisement of Bengaluru FC team?

The tweet read, "Hi @zomatocare, I ordered shawarma from Empire Restaurant, Bangalore, and paid ₹12 as packing charges. But found that the package is wrapped by @bengalurufc Advertisement. Why do I need to pay for their advertisement? How many orders rolled out with this box for paid users????"

The tweet quickly caught the attention of Bengaluru FC goalkeeper and Indian national football team captain, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who replied with humour, "GPay number dedo bhai - wapis karta hoon ₹12" (Share your GPay number brother - I'll refund your ₹12).

The playful response from Sandhu amused fans and sparked a conversation on social media. While the original complaint raised valid questions about transparency in packaging charges, Sandhu’s witty remark brought a lighter tone to the discussion.

Zomato has yet to respond to the concern, but the post has attracted various reactions from the internet users. One of the users said, "120 rupees without the advertisement". Another user asked Gurpreet Singh to gift him a signed jersey.

Another user asked the complainant to delete the tweet and take Rs 12 from him. He said, "Bhai number de apna, main krta hu ₹12 transfer. Delete this." (Brother give me your number, I will transfer Rs 12).
