During the South Africa vs New Zealand ODI match, something unusual happened at the cricket field. The South African teams' fielding coach Wandile Gwavu was seen on the field as a substitute during their Tri-National ODI series match against New Zealand.

The fielding coach was spotted during one of the overs when New Zealand was chasing a 305-run target. The Proteas ran out of substitutes during the match and were in a need for an extra player to field.

In the viral video, the South African fielding coach can be spotted fulfilling the fielding duties for the Proteas nation. Wandile Gwavu was recently appointed as South Africa’s full time white ball fielding coach and it seems like he is doing his job both on and off the field.

New Zealand beat South Africa in a convincing manner

New Zealand have qualified for the Pakistan Tri-Nation Series final after completing the third-highest successful chase in Lahore by beating South Africa. The Kiwi nation beat South Africa by six wickets. The result means that the next match, between Pakistan and South Africa in Karachi on Wednesday would be a knockout match.

Kane Williamson and Devon Conway, both back in the New Zealand's ODI squad for the first time since the 2023 World Cup, scored 133 not out and 97 respectively and shared in a record partnership for New Zealand against South Africa.

Conway's score was the first time he crossed fifty since the opening match of the 2023 World Cup. Meanwhile, Williamson's century was his first in 22 innings, dating back to his 148 against West Indies in Manchester in the 2019 World Cup. This was also Williamson's second fastest ODI hundred, off 72 balls. Between them, the duo eclipsed a remarkable achievement by Matthew Breetzke who scored 150 on his debut.
