Sam Curran etched his name in English cricket history on Friday. Facing the Sri Lankans in Pallekele, Curran made a stunning comeback to put his side on top. The left-arm seamer's helped the visitors bowl out Dasun Shanaka and Co for a paltry 133 in the SL vs ENG 1st T20I.
Curran came into bowl the 16th over of the innings. He got the well set Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka with Harry Brook taking a simple catch. He followed it up with the wicket of Maheesh Theekshana, who held out to Jamie Overton. For the hat-trick bowl, Curran nailed his yorker to perfection to claim Matheesha Pathirana's wicket.
Sam Curran has warmed up for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in style with a little piece of history. The all-rounder became just the second English player to take a hat-trick in T20Is with an incredible effort in the SL vs ENG 1st T20I on Friday. Curran was taken to the cleaners early, conceding 35 in his first overs, only for him to bounce back with three wickets.
