Mumbai Indians star opener Rohit Sharma's awkward expressions went viral as he was being readied to do make a stylish entry into their camp ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh was also present, as was his daughter amid the shoot as the franchise uploaded a video of the same on X.
The 37-year-old opening batter had returned to India briefly after ushering Team India to Champions Trophy 2025 glory but flew to Maldives with his family for a short vacation. Given the veteran batter's heroics in the Champions Trophy 2025 final, he will be brimming with confidence ahead of IPL 2025.
Rohit also had a decent IPL with the bat last year, aggregating 417 runs in 14 matches at 32.07 alongside a strike rate of 150. However, it was the first season in which the veteran had aggregated over 400 runs in an IPL season since 2019.
Mumbai Indians had a forgettable IPL 2024
Meanwhile, the five-time champions had a forgettable IPL season last year as they finished at the bottom of the table with four wins in 14 games. Although all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been retained as captain, the franchise has replaced Mark Boucher with Mahela Jayawardene as coach.
Squad: Hardik Pandya (c), Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Verma, Trent Boult, Naman Dhir, Robin Minz, Karn Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, Ashwani Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Reece Topley, Shrijith Krishnan, Raj Angad Bawa, Venkat Satyanarayana Raju, Bevon Jacobs, Arjun Tendulkar, Vignesh Puthhur, Suryakumar Yadav.
They also had a couple of injury replacements, roping in Corbin Bosch for Lizaad Williams and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for Allah Ghazanfar. Mumbai will open their campaign against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
