Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya dropped another straightforward chance in the ongoing Champions Trophy fixture against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium. This came a few overs after Rohit Sharma dropped a sitter at first slip, denying Axar Patel a well-deserved hat-trick as the Indian captain expressed his frustration by pounding the surface.

Pandya's dropped catch occurred in the 20th over sent down by left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. With Towhid Hridoy giving himself room, the right-hander plundered it down the ground. Pandya, who was stationed at mid-on, was at an ideal position to take the catch but couldn't hold on. Meanwhile, Rohit's drop occurred in the ninth over off Jaker Ali's bowling.

Team India wreck Bangladesh's top-order after Najmul Hossain Shanto opts to bat first

Meanwhile, the toss went in Bangladesh's favour and the Tigers opted to bat first. Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma said he wanted to field first.

However, India made their chance count as Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana struck in their first over of the innings, dismissing Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto, respectively. Shami also dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while Axar Patel got the better of Tanzid Tamim and Mushfiqur Rahim.

However, Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy have steadied their innings quite well and have already stitched a 100-run stand. India were the finalists of the 2017 edition, having lost to arch-rivals Pakistan by 180 runs in the final.
