At just 14, Anika Dubey, fondly known as the “Golden Girl of Pune”, has achieved an extraordinary milestone: she has earned a spot on the Indian Team for the Asian Team Championship, set to take place in Hong Kong in February 2025. This achievement makes her the youngest player from Maharashtra to represent India at such a prestigious international tournament.

Anika’s journey to this moment has been nothing short of inspiring. With three national titles to her name, she has become the most successful junior squash player from Pune in Maharashtra, setting new records and blazing a trail for others to follow. Her dedication, discipline, and love for the game have been evident in every match she’s played, cementing her place as one of India’s brightest young talents.

“To play for India is a dream come true,” Anika says. “It’s an honor to represent my country and showcase the hard work I’ve put in over the years.”

The Support Behind the Success

Anika’s rise to the top has been fuelled by Chance2Sports' unwavering support, particularly through their Kanga Kids program. This initiative, established in memory of Noshir Kanga, has been instrumental in providing Anika with the resources and opportunities to excel.

Her coach, Abhinav Sinha, has been a guiding force in her journey. Known for his calm demeanor and sharp tactical insights, Abhinav has shaped Anika into a well-rounded player ready to take on the world stage. “Anika’s success is a testament to her hard work and commitment,” Abhinav shares. “She’s focused, fearless, and always eager to learn.”

Looking Ahead to Hong Kong:

As February 2025 approaches, Anika is preparing rigorously for the Asian Team Championship. She takes seriously the responsibility of representing India on an international platform and is determined to give her best performance.

“This is just the beginning,” she says with a smile. “I’m excited to see what the future holds and to keep making my city and country proud.”
