Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has made a surprising revelation about his iconic Test hundred against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The seam-bowling all-rounder had disclosed that the shoe he wore at the MCG while scoring the ton was Virat Kohli's shoes.

Having made his Test debut during the recent tour of Australia, the 21-year-old had showcased his prowess with the bat in almost all the matches. However, the Boxing Day Test is where he came of age, scoring a fighting hundred in the first innings, leaving his father, who was in the crowd in tears of joy.

In a video surfaced on social media on Thursday, Reddy recalled Kohli asking Sarfaraz Khan first what his shoe size was and moved on to him with the same question. The youngster said he wanted Kohli's shoes quite badly, elaborating:

"If you saw my 100, that's not my shoes, that's Virat bhai's shoes. He asked Sarfaraz first, 'Sarfoo, tera size kya hai?' Toh Sarfoo said 9 or something. So, he asked me 'Nitish, what's your size?' I was like oh my god, I have to guess this correctly. Even if it's not my size, I want to take that shoe so badly. So, I said, 10. He's like, "Oh okay, take these shoes, if you want, you can take'. I was like 'I want to take'. The next match, I wore that shoe and scored a 100."

Nitish Kumar Reddy gearing up for IPL 2025

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh-born cricketer is currently gearing up for IPL in which he will represent the SunRisers Hyderabad after becoming one of the players to be retained by the franchise ahead of the auction. The 21-year-old mustered 303 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2024 alongside a strike rate of 142.92 and took three wickets.

It was based on his exploits for the SunRisers that he got the nod for India ahead of their T20I series against Bangladesh at home. SunRisers will open their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in Hyderabad.
