Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant recreated legendary commentator Sunil Gavaskar's iconic 'Stupid Stupid Stupid' moment from the recent Test series against Australia. In a video surfaced on social media, the 27-year-old attempted to repeat the same words with similar intensity by wearing a microphone and hilariously laughed in the end when it didn't quite come as Pant wanted to.
The moment occurred on day three of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). With Scott Boland already having dismissed Virat Kohli and Akash Deep, Pant tried to take him on by trying to scoop the ball to fine leg. However, all it did was take the bat's leading edge and it flew to Nathan Lyon at deep third. A promising partnership of 32 between Pant and Ravindra Jadeja was broken following that wicket.
The southpaw played a similar reckless shot in the fourth innings at a stage when Team India looked set to draw the Test. A pull shot off Travis Head's bowling sparked the tourists' collapse as they lost seven wickets in a session to lose the Test.
