Mumbai: St. Teresa high school won the semi final of the girls group beating St. Joseph, Bandra 5-1 in a convincing manner to book a place in the finals of the 35th Annual WCG Rink Hockey Tournament organized by the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana. St. Teresa girls were on the attack right from the start as they took a strong 4-0 lead at the half time. Jessica D’costa was the star performer of the match as she scored three goals receiving good support from Neha Shigwan and Rajeshwari Chauhan who netted a goal each. Rachel Michael was the lone scorer for the losing side.

The quarter final of the women’s group between Excellency Hockey Academy, Pune and Valchandsons was a closely fought battle that was decided on the basis of penalty shoot outs which Valchandsons eventually won 12-11.

At the half time, scores were level at 5-5 and even after the full time the scores were tied at 9-9 raising the excitement levels of the spectators present at the WCG floodlit tennis court stands. In the penalty shootouts though, Valchandsons did one better to go through to the semis. Vivenda D’souza and Supriya Jadhav scored in their first two attempts for the Excellency Academy but, lost out on their third. A determined Valchandsons side, scored in all their three attempts, with Pranali Patil, Madhavi Patil and Prajakta Kadam being the scorers in the shoot outs. Excellency Hockey Academy’s Vivenda D’souza with eight goals tried her best but could not help her side to a win.
