'Saying That Only Aggressive Cricket Can...': Cheteshwar Pujara Defends Traditional Test Approach In Recent Interview; Video

Pujara’s comments come at a time when Test cricket is at a crossroads, with debates around entertainment value, crowd engagement, and the role of traditional batting styles becoming increasingly common. His balanced view acts as a reminder that while evolution is necessary, the core of Test cricket lies in its complexity and nuance.

Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara, known for his classical and resilient approach to Test cricket, has offered a thoughtful take on the evolution of the longest format of the game. In a recent interview with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Pujara pushed back against the growing perception that aggressive batting is the only way forward for Test cricket.

“Saying that only aggressive cricket can take Test matches forward isn’t entirely true,” Pujara said, challenging a narrative that has gained traction with the rise of England’s “Bazball” approach and the increasing focus on strike rates. “The real key to success in Tests is playing according to the situation.”

While not dismissing the need for urgency in scoring, Pujara emphasized that context and adaptability are crucial. “That doesn’t always mean slowing down—sometimes, you should be scoring at 80 or even 100 strike rate, especially on a flat wicket. But when conditions are tough and the bowlers are on top, you’ve got to respect that.”

He stressed the importance of absorbing pressure and timing your counterattack. “It’s about absorbing pressure when needed and cashing in when the moment’s right. That’s especially important in places like SENA countries, where the new ball can be a real handful.”

'I Walk Away With Memories...': KL Rahul Shares Heartfelt Note As Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 Journey Ends

As the Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 campaign came to an end, KL Rahul took to Instagram to share a touching message reflecting on his time with the franchise. The experienced Indian batter posted a photo of the entire DC squad with a heartfelt caption, "A mixed bag in the end. I walk away with memories, great friendships and lessons. Till next time."

Rahul, who joined Delhi Capitals this season after parting ways with Lucknow Super Giants, played a vital role as a senior figure in a youthful and evolving squad. While the Capitals showed flashes of brilliance throughout the tournament, inconsistency ultimately cost them a spot in the playoffs.

His Instagram story has quickly gained attention from fans and fellow cricketers, many of whom praised his maturity and leadership both on and off the field. Rahul’s message hints at a bittersweet experience — one filled with highs, lows, and valuable takeaways.

Though it's unclear what the future holds for KL Rahul in the IPL — whether he stays with Delhi or moves elsewhere — his parting words signal gratitude and optimism. As teams begin to regroup and plan for the 2026 season, Rahul’s journey remains one to watch closely.
