Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly complained to the BCCI against Sunil Gavaskar, claiming that his criticism affected his performance in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. According to a report by MensXP, the veteran batter felt such criticism was unnecessary and that it put undue pressure on him.

The 37-year-old endured a forgettable tour of Australia, both as a batter and captain. With the bat, the right-handed batter registered only 31 runs in three Tests and 6.20 and India ended up losing all those matches under him. He dropped himself from the final Test in Sydney, making way for Jasprit Bumrah to lead but the tourists suffered a defeat again to lose the series 3-1.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar questioned Rohit's future in Tests by writing in his column for The Sydney Morning Herald:

"The skipper, Rohit Sharma, was out of his depth and having taken the brave decision to step aside, because of his form, he has also raised big questions about his future in Test cricket."

A source claimed, as quoted by MenXP:

"Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Sunil Gavaskar to criticise him in that fashion, and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI."

Rohit Sharma's poor form continued in the Ranji Trophy

Meanwhile, the opening batter registered only 31 runs in his first Ranji Trophy match since 2015-16, including a single-figure score of 3 against Jammu & Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the prolific right-handed batter will finetune himself for the Champions Trophy with the three-game ODI series against England. The Men in Blue are currently engaged in a five-game T20I series against England and are 2-0 up after a couple of games.

India will open their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
