Mumbai : State skaters from the Prabhodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, Vile Parle bagged a rich haul of gold, silver and bronze medals in the 53rd National Artistic Roller Skating Championship, in Ahmedabad and the state and district meets. The championship was organized under the auspices of the Roller Skating Federation of India.
Among the significant performers were, Prisha Thakkar and Viraaj Sukhyani who won the under-12 national roller skating pair dance gold and helped themselves to the overall championship trophy for best pair dance. Sukhyani also won the boys 10-12 free dance and pair dance gold in the state championship to complete a rich haul.
International Yaashvi Shah of N.M. College dominated the girls above 16 category by bagging the national, state and district roller skating free dance gold. Kiyoshi Dolia of Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra was the other outstanding skater who won the under-12 national roller skating free dance gold, state figure skating gold and district free dance and figure skating gold, while international Divija Agarwal of Vibgyor ruled the girls 8-12 category with the national slalom freestyle classic gold and speed silver, and state classic and speed gold.
While Jashn Singh of AVM, Bandra won the boys 6-8 state slalom freestyle classic and speed gold, Naisha Mehta of Jamnabai Narsee won gold in the girls 6-8 state free dance and figure skating and district free dance, figure skating and free skating.
Reeva Agarwal of Dhirubhai Ambani International was the other star performer who bagged the state free skating and free dance gold, figure skating silver and district free dance, free skating and figure skating gold. The youngest was Tia Khatarani who won the under-5 free dance gold in the district championship.
“Our skaters practice hard and the reward is, they always achieve so much,” said Sankul president and former Mumbai Mayor Dr. Ramesh Prabhoo.
