In an old video that surfaced on social media, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif had revealed that he possesses connections with notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The video has gone viral amid the BCCI objecting to send the Indian men's team for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, scheduled to be played in February 2025.
While the PCB had released the draft schedule of the tournament a few months ago, the BCCI has recently communicated that the Indian government did not clear the team to go to Pakistan due to security concerns. However, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has refused to budge on multiple occasions, claiming that India should talk to him as he will alleviate any concerns.
Speaking to Nauman Niaz in an old interview, here's what Latif claimed:
"Pange Kisse le rahe ho? Bhai ke ghar ke baraabar mein rehte hain hum log. Jahan main rehta hoon na bhai ka ghar hai idhar. Toh yeh jo game chala rahe hain upar se woh chod dena."
(Whom are you messing with? I stay near Bhai's house.)
PCB Chairman hints at accepting hybrid model for the Champions Trophy
Naqvi, meanwhile, in a recent chat with media, hinted at going ahead with the hybrid model for the tournament, but wanted that Pakistan's respect should remain intact. He also demanded that hybrid model must happen for all the ICC events that will be hosted by India in the future. As quoted by India Today, he stated:
"A lot of things are going on, and I do not want anything to get spoilt in the middle of this rush. We have given our point of view on some points, and so have India. The only focus is on the win for cricket, that's most important and definitely, everything in proper manner and with respect. We are going to do what is gonna be best for cricket. Whatever the formula the tournament is played in, definitely not a hybrid formula yet, but even if it is a new formula, it will be equal for everyone. At the end of the day we want cricket to win and Pakistan's respect should be kept intact. Let's see what happens."
