Rain once again disrupted in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, forcing the Pakistan vs. Bangladesh match in Rawalpindi to be called off. Both teams had hoped to end their campaigns with a win, but instead, they each received one point.

Pakistan being the host of the tournament had a disappointing campaign at home, losing their first match to New Zealand by 60 runs in Karachi and then falling to India by six wickets in Dubai, which ended their semifinal hopes.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh also struggled, losing to India, who chased down the target with six wickets in hand, and then to New Zealand by five wickets. These results confirmed India and New Zealand's spots in the semifinals, making this match in Rawalpindi a dead rubber with only pride at stake.

Afghanistan pulled off a thriller win against England

Meanwhile, yesterday Afghanistan pulled off a historic win over England in Lahore. They posted their highest-ever total in an ICC ODI tournament, with Ibrahim Zadran scoring a record-breaking 177 as Afghanistan reached 325/7.

In reply, England fought back, led by Joe Root's century, but Afghanistan's bowlers sealed a thrilling victory. Azmatullah Omarzai starred with the ball, taking 5/58.

This result knocked England out of the tournament, while Afghanistan now remains in a tight battle for a semifinal spot alongside Australia and South Africa.
