Newcastle United Agree To £55M Transfer Fee To Sign Anthony Elanga From Nottingham Forest

English Premier League (EPL) club Newcastle United has agreed to shell out a mind-boggling £55 million fee to Nottingham Forest to sign on Anthony Elanga. Newcastle United, also known as the Magpies, had earlier seen a £45 million bid go rejected last month but the Forest have accepted the new bid of £55 million.

English Premier League (EPL) club Newcastle United has agreed to shell out a mind-boggling £55 million fee to Nottingham Forest to sign on Anthony Elanga. Newcastle United, also known as the Magpies, had earlier seen a £45 million bid go rejected last month but the Forest have accepted the new amount of £55 million.

According to reports, the payment structure is yet to be decided and remains under discussion but the framework of the deal is sealed. Nevertheless, the Sweden-based international footballer will first head to Tyneside for his medical tests and contract signing as Elanga is eager for the move to be completed. It is also understood that the Champions League.

The 23-year-old Swedish forward helped Nottingham Forest secure a spot in the Conference League last season with six goals and 11 assists in the Premier League. With Newcastle reportedly confident of finishing the deal quickly, they can begin their pre-season preparations.

Callum Wilson to leave Newcastle United

Meanwhile, veteran striker Callum Wilson has confirmed that he would be leaving Newcastle United, having joined the club four years ago. The 33-year-old, who had arrived from Bournemouth in 2020 for a jaw-dropping £19 million. Wilson's contract had expired recently but could not be renewed despite some discussions.

As far as his appearances for Newcastle go, he played in 130 matches, netting 49 goals. In a message posted on the club's official website, it said:

"It’s time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years in the Toon. Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights. All good things come to an end but there’s no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts. Thank you for the memories."
