'My Dad Isn't Media Trained.. Forgive & Leave Him Alone': Ashwin Clarifies Father's 'Humiliation' Led To Retirement Remark

Ashwin took to his official social media account and asked the media to leave his father alone and forgive him for statements. He also said that his father is not media trained.

Mumbai: Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has issued clarification after his father said that he announced retirement from cricket as he was humiliated for a long time. Ashwin took to his official social media account and asked the media to leave his father alone and forgive him for statements. He also said that his father is not media trained.

R Ashwin tweeted, "My dad isn’t media trained, dey father enna da ithelaam. I never thought you would follow this rich tradition of “dad statements”. Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone."

Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from from all formats of the game in international cricket. The announcement came as a shock for his fans as he announced the decision in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. R Ashwin was dropped from the playing eleven in the third test against Australia which ended in a draw. There were speculations that he was unhappy as he was not selected in the squad and the big decision is the result of it.

Ravichandran Ashwin's father in an interview claimed that his son announced his retirement as he was humiliated after being dropped from the squad. He also said that he was shocked by his son's retirement from international cricket. He said that he came to know about the decision at the very last minute and said that there could be many reasons behind the big decision. "Only Ashwin knows, maybe he was humiliated", said his father.

His father said that he was happy and unhappy at the same time with his son's decision to retire from international cricket. According to him, he should have continued to play for the country.
