Mumbai: Over the last 26 years, the Bipin Football Academy, erstwhile Bipin Memorial Football Association has been doing its bit to impart free football coaching to boys and girls below 16 including special camps for the slum dwellers and under privileged children who cannot afford the luxury of attending any other normal training camp.

BFA has provided opportunity to thousands of budding youngsters to hone their skills under the watchful eyes of some of the city’s well known coaches and some of them have gone ahead to don colours for their State and Country.
In his efforts to keep the activities of the BFA afloat, Surendra Karkera has virtually exhausted all his financial resources and is a debt ridden man, however his undying spirit and love for the game has kept him going. It’s therefore a welcome sign, infact a breather for BFA that the Mumbai Schools Sports Association has decided to embrace them to their fold. It should therefore go to the everlasting credit of Rev Fr. Father Jude Rodrigues, President of MSSA for taking such a bold and magnanimous decision.
“As one who has been closely associated with the BFA for many years, I feel that this new found partnership with MSSA augurs well for the game as the young sports enthusiasts, particularly the underprivileged children have lots to smile for and who knows that we may see another stalwart emerge from the slums of Mumbai to make his mark in the City’s football arena,” Karkera said.
