The Mumbai Indians (MI) delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 27, 2025.

Mumbai Indians posted an imposing total of 215/7 in 20 overs. Opener Ryan Rickelton led the charge with a brilliant knock of 58 runs off 32 balls, which included 6 boundaries and 4 sixes. He set the tone early, giving MI the platform for a big score.

Joining the party, Suryakumar Yadav unleashed his trademark aggressive batting, hammering 54 runs off just 28 deliveries, striking 4 boundaries and 4 sixes to thrill the Wankhede crowd. Despite regular breakthroughs by the LSG bowlers, MI’s batting depth helped them maintain momentum throughout the innings. For Lucknow Super Giants, Mayank Yadav was the standout bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 40 runs in his four-over spell.

Lucknow Super Giants struggle in the run chase

Chasing a daunting target of 216, Lucknow Super Giants struggled to gain any real momentum and were eventually bowled out for 161 runs in 20 overs.

Ayush Badoni fought valiantly, scoring 35 runs off 22 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes, while opener Mitchell Marsh contributed 34 runs off 24 balls, striking 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer much resistance against a disciplined MI bowling attack.

Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is regarded as one of the world's premier fast bowlers. He picked up 4 wickets for just 22 runs in his 4 overs, breaking the back of LSG’s batting order and ensuring a comfortable win for his team.
