Premier League giants Manchester City is set to make history during the 2026/27 season by becoming the first team to wear a jersey generated by fan using Aritifical Intelligence (AI). The jersey will be designed by fans and the winning design will be donned by the players in the 2026-27 season as their official third kit. The unique initiative is a collaboration between Manchester City and Puma, aimed at engaging fans in a new, exciting way.
How ill the concept work?
Fans entering the competition will get to use a text-to-image uniform generator from an AI company called DeepObjects. The tool, dubbed Puma AI Creator, asks users to sign up and enter a prompt detailing how they want to look. They then have to choose an artistic style for the AI to create their design. The choices are "abstract," "emotive brushstrokes," or "dream visions."
Manchester City players Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Rico Lewis have already used the Puma AI Creator. They created a goalkeeper kit inspired by the net of a football goal.
How will be the winner chosen?
Fans can submit designs to the competition until 20th December. The winning design will be decided based on fan ratings and the views of experts from Manchester City and Puma. The final pick must be not only visually appealing but also connect with the club's supporters. The initiative is a major step toward bringing AI technology into sports merchandising.
Whats next for Manchester City?
Manchester City will next face Juventus in Champions League match. The PL Champions have only won one of its last nine matches. Facing Juventus away from home will once again be a tough task for them. City players are low on confidence and are not in good form.
