Iqbal Singh Chahal on Sunday achieved a rare feat after completing 21-km run in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025. Notably, Chahal completed half marathon in all the 20 editions of the global event.

Mumbai: Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 was held on Sunday. Iqbal Singh Chahal, a former commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), successfully completed the 20th edition of the Mumbai Marathon by successfully running 21 km. Chahal achieved a rare feat of completing half-marathon in all the editions of the annual global event.

In the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025, the former BMC commissioner took two hours, 20 minutes and 21 seconds to complete 21 km (half-marathon). Notably, the half marathon started from Reti Bandar/Mahim Dargah Urus Ground, which is right next to the Mahim Church junction.

Chahal was appointed municipal commissioner on May 8, 2020, and served for almost four years. He garnered praise for establishing COVID-19 infrastructure in the maximum city. He is currently serving as an Additional Chief Secretary in the Maharashtra Chief Minister's office.

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025:

The Tata Mumbai Marathon is an annual global marathon event that takes place on the third Sunday of every year. It starts from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Eritrea’s Berhane Tesfay won the full marathon with the timings of two hours, 11 minutes and 44 seconds in the elite men’s category. Meanwhile, Anish Thapa bagged the top spot with the timings of two hours 17 minutes and 23 seconds in the Indian men’s category.

Sawan Barwal won the half Marathon in the men’s category with a gun time of one hour four minutes and 37 seconds. In the women’s category of the half marathon, Stanzin Dolkar secured the first position with a gun time of one hour 25 minutes and 51 seconds.

Around 25,000 people participate in the Dream Run category where people ran for different causes.
