The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on May 17, with the high-octane clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tournament was temporarily suspended due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan, but with calm restored, cricket fever is ready to return only if weather permits.

Rain Threat Over RCB vs KKR Match

According to the latest weather forecast by Accuweather for Bengaluru, there are chance of rainfall during Saturday’s evening fixture. With weather not favouring the teams concerns have raised over a possible washout or interruptions during play.

RCB looks to seal playoff berth

RCB, led this season by Rajat Patidar, have enjoyed an excellent campaign so far. With 16 points from 11 matches, they are currently placed second on the points table and are just one win away from sealing a playoff berth. However, the franchise suffered a setback in their last match against Chennai Super Kings when skipper Patidar picked up an injury.

While there were initial doubts about his availability, Patidar was seen batting confidently in the nets ahead of the KKR clash. Though not confirmed, there is a strong possibility that he could feature in the match, possibly as an Impact Player, depending on medical clearance.

KKR faces Do-or-Die scenario

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Ajinkya Rahane, have had a tough season so far. With only five wins in 12 games, they sit sixth on the table and are in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive. A loss to RCB could effectively end their title defense.

KKR are coming off a defeat in their last game and will need a complete performance with bat, ball, and possibly help from the weather gods to stay in the race. As anticipation builds for the return of IPL 2025, fans are hoping that rain doesn’t play spoilsport in what could be a decisive contest for both sides.
