A heated exchange occurred between Ishant Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma during the break after the 19th over in the Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Capitals match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 19. The verbal scuffle took place just before the final over of Delhi Capitals' innings.

Ishant Sharma delivered a bouncer that popped up behind Ashutosh Sharma, and GT wicketkeeper Jos Buttler took the catch. The Titans went up in appeal, but the umpire ruled it not out, indicating the ball had come off the batter’s shoulder.

Unhappy with the decision, Ishant expressed his frustration, while Ashutosh gestured toward his shoulder to support the umpire’s call, leading to a brief verbal exchange between the two players. Ashutosh Sharma even rolled up his sleeve to demonstrate the exact spot where the ball had struck him.

IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals are engaging in a thriller battle at Ahmedabad

The Gujarat Titans are hosting the Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the first of the two games on April 19, Saturday. With the heat set to be mighty at the iconic venue, the stakeholders have introduced a handful of initiatives such as free drinking water to the spectators and sunscreens to them.

The Titans' four-game winning streak came to an end when the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat them at the Ekana Stadium by four wickets. The Titans' opening combination looks solid but will be looking to iron out a few flaws, including hoping for leg-spinner Rashid Khan to find form.

The Capitals, meanwhile, are flying high, winning five out of their six matches thus far. They lost a close contest against the Mumbai Indians but responded by winning a similar one against the Rajasthan Royals that went to the super over. However, they still need Jake Fraser-McGurk to return to form, given the Aussie batter has had a torrid time, of late.

Delhi Capitals posted 203/8 in 20 overs, with skipper Axar Patel scoring 39 runs off 32 balls, including 1 boundary and 2 sixes. Ashutosh Sharma contributed 37 runs off 19 balls, hitting 2 boundaries and 3 sixes. Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler for Gujarat Titans, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs in his 4 overs.
