IPL 2025 Shock: CAB Receives Bomb Threat During KKR vs CSK Match At Eden Gardens Post Operation Sindhoor

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) received a suspicious bomb threat on email from an unidentified sender during the IPL clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday, May 7.

Police launched an investigation to trace the source of the message, while ensuring the safety of players, staff, and the tens of thousands of spectators present at the ground.

The incident unfolded during the first IPL match held in Kolkata following Operation Sindhoor a series of strikes carried out by Indian forces in response to last month’s terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Prior to the match, players from both CSK and KKR, along with BCCI officials, paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces for their bravery during Operation Sindhoor. A ceremonial playing of the national anthem and a moment of acknowledgment took place as the teams lined up along the boundary.

CSK dash KKR's playoff hopes after nailbiting win

In a nerve-wracking IPL 2025 encounter, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 2 wickets with just two balls to spare.

Kolkata Knight Riders posted a competitive total of 179/6 in 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane played a composed innings, scoring 48 runs off 33 balls. He anchored the top order, while Andre Russell delivered the fireworks in the middle overs with a powerful 38 off 21 balls. Chennai’s left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs in his full quota of 4 overs

In reply, Chennai Super Kings chased down the target by scoring 183/8 in 19.4 overs. Youngster Dewald Brevis was the star with the bat, blazing a match-turning 52 off just 25 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.. Supporting him was the reliable Shivam Dube, who anchored the innings with 45 off 40 balls. Vaibhav Arora put up a spirited fight with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 48 runs in 3 overs.
