Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi has opened up on the controversial notebook celebration ahead of the IPL 2025 game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 27, Tuesday at the Ekana Stadium. Rathi revealed that he prefers carrying a notebook every time there is a tournament.
The 27-year-old has been fined on multiple occasions for his notebook celebration during this year's edition. With the celebration triggering a verbal altercation between him and Abhishek Sharma during the game against the SunRisers Hyderabad, not only was Rathi fined but also banned for one game. The rookie spinner missed the game against the Gujarat Titans, but will likely return for the clash against RCB.
During a meet and greet occasion, a fan, introducing himself as Mahnder Pratap Singh asked Rathi:
"Aap wicket lene ke baad jo signature karte hain iska udghaatan kahan se hua?" (You do the notebook celebration every time after taking the wicket, so where did you start it?)
The Delhi-born cricketer replied:
"Start yeh hai ki, jab bhi koi tournament hota hai, main notebook leke jaata hoon. Aur usme sabke naam likhne hain mujhe." (Thing is, I carry a notebook every time there is a tournament to write everyone's names).
Lucknow Super Giants look to finish off their campaign with a win
With LSG out of playoffs race, they would want to finish their campaign with yet another victory. More focus will turn to Rishabh Pant, who has had a forgettable season and with the bat and would want some runs under his belt, especially with India set tour England next month.
Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers need a win to avoid bagging the 3rd or 4th spot ahead of the playoffs. They had looked rusty during their defeat against the SunRisers Hyderabad and will need to pull up their socks to beat the Super Giants.
