RCB players leave for Kolkata
The RCB squad on Wednesday left for Kolkata to play the opening match of the IPL 2025 against the home team. A video which has gone viral on social media shows Virat Kohli and other RCB players at the airport to take the flight. The team was seen sporting their latest red jerseys, with Virat Kohli standing out in stylish black sunglasses.
In the IPL 2025 season, RCB will begin their campaign with a new leader, Rajat Patidar. He has become the eighth captain of the franchise, replacing South Africa star Faf du Plessis, who was not retained by the team during the IPL 2025 mega auction, which took place in Dubai.
In IPL 2024, RCB finished fourth on the IPL points table after making a dramatic comeback, winning six matches in a row to secure a playoff spot. However, they fell short of reaching the finals.
On the other hand KKR are the reigning IPL champions and will have a lot of pressure on them. The defending champions will be without their winning captain and mentor, Shreyas Iyer and Gautam Gambhir. While iyer was signed by Punjab Kings during mega auction, Gambhir is now the head coach of Team India. Ajinkya Rahane will be the new man at the helm and will hope to defend the crown in the upcoming season.
