With Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) youngster Dewald Brevis turning 22 on April 29, Tuesday, the contingent organised a birthday bash for him as the franchise uploaded a video of him on their official social media handle. However, a striking feature of the video was Gurjapneet Singh, whose injury replacement was Brevis, was spotted with the players.

On April 18, IPL officially announced Brevis as the injury replacement for left-arm speedster Gurjapneet, as claimed in the official website but the nature of injury was not mentioned. The South African youngster delivered a promising performance on his CSK debut, smashing Kamindu Mendis for three sixes in an over in his 25-ball 42. However, it went in vain as the SunRisers Hyderabad chased down the target of 155 set with five wickets to spare.

Chennai Super Kings' campaign on life support as they face the Punjab Kings

Meanwhile, the Super Kings are gearing up to face the Punjab Kings as they are faced with the most unlikeliest of the turnarounds to win the tournament. Having lost seven games this year, including four at home, the five-time champions' fortress has crumbled in stunning fashion this year. Although the Super Kings are virtually still alive even now, they will need plenty of results to go their way even if MS Dhoni and co. beat the Punjab Kings on Wednesday.

The Punjab Kings, who are coming off a washout against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, had beaten Chennai earlier in the season. They produced a power-packed batting performance against the Knight Riders and will be looking forward to repeat that against Chennai.
