Team India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was seen bowling at full tilt ahead of his certain return to the playing XI for the third Test against England at the Lord's Cricket Ground. According to a report from RevSportz, the right-arm speedster was engaged in a 45-minute bowling in a nets session on July 8, Tuesday.
The 31-year-old was rested for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, with the management citing that they wanted to manage his workload. Although there were question marks over India's bowling prowess to take 20 wickets in Bumrah's absence, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep stepped up well for the tourists. Deep, who had replaced Bumrah, took ten wickets in the match, including six in the second innings as India won by 336 runs to level the series.

As far as batting goes, captain Shubman Gill proved to be the kingpin, making 269 and 161, burying the hosts under huge amount of runs.

Team India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak addressed their batting prowess in the last two Tests, claiming that they only batted sensibly instead of forcing the issue. Kotak said during the presser, as quoted by RevSportz:
"Even if they don’t look for runs actively, we’re still scoring at nearly four-an-over. That’s just the skill level. They’re playing on merit and not forcing the issue and that’s what’s keeping them out there for longer. If you don’t play undue shots, you stay longer. That’s the red-ball rule."
