Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant provided an update on his fractured foot and the road moving forward after sustaining the injury during the fourth Test against England in Manchester. The 27-year-old revealed that he will begin his rehab once the fracture heals and can't wait to return doing what he loves.

The left-hander suffered a gruesome injury on day 1 of the Manchester Test as he was struck on the toe while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes' bowling. Despite the swollen toe, Pant returned to bat on Day 2 and resumed on 37 and went on to make 54 to propel the tourists' total to 358. Although Team India stand a chance of drawing the five-Test series, the youngster has been ruled out of the final match.

Sharing a few pictures of his injury on his official handle on X, Pant wrote:

"Appreciate all the love & good wishes coming my way. It's been a real source of strength. I will begin my rehab once my fracture heals and I am slowly settling into the process. Staying patient and following the routines and giving it my 100%. Playing for the country has always been the proudest moment of my life. Can't wait to be back doing what I love."

Narayanan Jagadeesan named Rishabh Pant's replacement for Oval Test

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu keeper-batter Narayanan Jagadeesan has been named Rishabh Pant's replacement for the Oval Test against England, beginning on July 31, Thursday. Jagadeesan has an outstanding first-class record, having played 52 matches and accumulating 3373 runs, averaging 47.50 alongside ten centuries. However, he is unlikely to play, with Dhruv Jurel looking like the frontrunner to replace Pant in the XI.

Team India Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj, Arshdeep Singh, N Jagadeesan (WK).

The last time the two sides played at The Oval, India registered a commanding victory. The draw at Old Trafford will only boost the visitors' confidence.
