World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) veteran star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson made a stunning statement in a segment with Cody Rhodes during the latest episode of SmackDown held at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The former WWE champion claimed to want Cody Rhodes' soul, leaving the latter with a confused look.
Before his return on the latest episode of SmackDown, the Rock had announced that he is coming to 'f**k up a certain WWE superstar's life and it seemingly was the reigning Undisputed champion Rhodes. The 52-year-old is also a Board of Director member of TKO Group Holdings, a parent company of WWE and UFC, reminding the champion of the same.
With The Rock also announcing that Wrestlemania 42 will return to the New Orleans, the segment between him and Rhodes ended with the former denying that he wants the WWE championship. Instead, the ten-time world champion said he wants Rhodes' soul.
"It never has to culminate to a match" - The Rock on his face off with Cody Rhodes
In the post-match show, the 52-year-old remained coy about where his storyline with Rhodes is heading and stated, as quoted by wrestlezone:
"What I really love about this rare airspace that we’ve gotten to with the character of the Final Boss, it’s like this white whale unicorn in that with the Final Boss and Cody Rhodes, it’s not about the WWE Title, it’s not about having a match. It’s not about punching or kicking or bleeding or any of that that is so part of our world. It never has to culminate to a match. That’s a really special place to be, I think, creatively and when you think character-wise and how much fun you can have."
