Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced free entry for spectators during the upcoming two-Test series against India, which begins on August 15 in Galle. The initiative is aimed at encouraging more fans to experience international Test cricket. SLC said the move offers a great opportunity for the public to watch world-class cricket without any admission fee.
The opening Test will be played at the Galle International Stadium from August 15, while the second match is scheduled at the SSC in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
In its official statement, SLC invited cricket enthusiasts, young aspiring players, families, and sports lovers from across the country to attend the matches. The board expressed hope that the initiative would create a lively atmosphere and boost support for the longest format of the game.
Test cricket has traditionally struggled to attract large crowds in Sri Lanka, with empty stands often visible during home matches. Even previous tours by Indian teams failed to generate significant attendance despite the rivalry between the two nations. Through free public admission, SLC hopes to revive interest and draw bigger crowds for the highly anticipated series.
