Prevail on the basis of first innings lead against SVIS after round one loss to Dnyandeep in Giles Shield Super League match

Defending champions Modern English School Chembur prevailed on the basis of first innings lead against Swami Vivekanand International School (SVIS) Gorai in the Giles Shield second round Super League match at Hindu Gymkhana on Friday. This was a much-needed win for Modern English after losing the first two-day match to Dnyandeep Seva Mandal Primary and Secondary School. Aryan Kamble won the man-of-the-match award for his blistering knock of 171 to lead Modern English 375-6 declared in 78 overs.

On day 2, Swami Vivekanand continued their batting and posted 196 in 61.5 overs. Aaron Negi top scored with 97 which included 19 boundaries. Medium pacer Krish Patil was the pick of the bowlers snapping up 4/48. Following on, SVIS in their second innings made 116-7 in 41 overs. Kaanish Panchal made 50. Nishad Parab grabbed a four-wicket haul (4-24).

Dnyandeep took first innings lead against RR Education Academy to built on their first innings win at DPC Matunga. RR Education were 155 all out in 62.5 overs in response to Dnyandeep's first innings total of 223 in 51.5 overs. Off spinner Virat Yadav (4-43) and Mohammad Ali both picked four wickets a piece. During their second innings, Dnyandeep made 196-5 and declared in 25 overs. Virat Yadav played a splendid knock of 69 in 32 balls, with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Coming out to chase down the total, RR Education Trust managed 92-2 in 27 overs. Virat Yadav… once again was amongst the wickets, (2-3) in his 6 overs spell thus winning the Man of the Match award for his 69 runs and a total of six wickets in the game.

Off spinner Prerit Raut picked (4-32) in his 8 overs spell thus grabbing the Man of the Match award for his overall performance with both bat and ball.

The third match was also drawn between VK Krishna Menon Academy Borivali and General Education Academy Chembur at Jolly Gymkhana. However, VK Krishna Menon prevailed on the first innings lead. VK Krishna Menon finished with 338 in 87.5 overs. Off spinner Siddhant Desai picked three wickets. In reply, coming out to chase down their first innings score, General Education tried their best but fell short, scoring 323 all out in 59.1 overs. Sparsh Gholap made an excellent 140 while Yashraj Kalaskar scored 124. Off spinner Prerit Raut picked (4-32) in his 8 overs spell thus grabbing the Man of the Match award for his overall performance with both bat and ball.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya took first innings lead against ES New English School at Shivaji Park Gymkhana. IES New English were 147 all out in 61.2 overs. Naresh Godha picked four wickets. Advit Tiwari picked three wickets and won the Man of the Match. During their second innings, Dr Babasaheb finished the day with 12-0 in 5 overs. Earlier, on day 1…Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar posted 227 in 78.4 overs.
