Mumbai : The Mumbai District Football Association’s football season will kick-off with the annual Independence Cup 2017, which will be played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Monday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
The 16 top Elite & Super clubs from the city will be fighting it out for supremacy in this 9-a-side event, which will be played on a knockout basis. The leading contenders from the Elite Division, include Air India, Mumbai Customs, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Western Railway, Karnatak SA, Kenkre FC, and promoted outfits, Mumbai Strikers and Century Rayon. Defending champions Indian Navy are also in the fray.
The others teams are, Sellebrity FC, Mumbai Muslims, HDFC Bank, Dena Bank, Young Guns and Millat FC, all Super Division clubs.
Former champions Mumbai Customs take on Sellebrity FC in the opening match on Monday at 7.00am.
