Mumbai : Strikers Prem Sonkar and Yusuf Shaikh scored a goal each to lead Dazzling Stars to a narrow 2-1 victory against Young Glorians in a second round match of the Late Darryl Crasto Memorial Trophy for Men in the Catholic Gymkhana’s annual rink football tournament, played at the gymkhana’s floodlit grounds, Marine Drive. Sherlock D’Souza netted the lone goal for Glorians.
In another match, Juhu Sports Club overcame Jerry FC by a 2-1 margin. Tushar Bhosle and Noel Mendes were on target for the Juhu outfit while Jerry FC scored through Semon D’Souza.
Meanwhile, in women’s action for the Late Dereyk De Souza Memorial Trophy, Kenkre FC got the better of Freunds SC 3-2 in a thrilling first round contest. Kenkre were well-served by strikers Samantha D’Souza, Trishla Desai and Alaia Singh, all chipping in with a goal apiece, while Afshan Bassha and Ruqquiya Shaikh scored the goals for Freunds.
Results – men’s open 2nd round: Autonomous SC 2 (Declan G. Rahul F.) beat Parlekar SC 1 (Xavier F). Dazzling Stars 2 (Prem Sonkar, Yusuf Shaikh) beat Young Glorians 1 (Sherlock D’Souza).
