Retired Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin's wife and Prithi Narayanan engaged in a jovial conversation about the early days of their relationship. Ashwin hilariously revealed that every time he used to call Prithi on her landline, her father would pick up the phone.

Ashwin and Prithi tied the knot on November 13, 2011 and the off-spinner's wife has been spotted in stadiums on numerous occasions. The couple have two daughters. Prithi has notably worked with the Chennai Super Kings as well and reportedly they reconnected with one another during that time.

Speaking to 7cricket, Bharat Sundaresen, the journalist asked about the roots of their love story and Prithi said:

"We kind of knew each other in middle school. We were acquaintances or classmates in school that's it. Nothing more than that."

The 38-year-old added to it saying that it was difficult to maintain relationships for a long time as cellphones hadn't been invented.

"That was not the era of cellphones. You had to call somebody on a landline. Every time I called her on her landline, her father would pick up. So what are the odds that you maintain a relationship for such a long time."

Ravichandran Ashwin keen to prolong his IPL career

With the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer announcing his international retirement, Ashwin said he is keen to continue playing in the IPL and is excited to play for the Chennai Super Kings next year. The veteran said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:

"I think that part for me is still burning bright. I am going to play for CSK and don't be surprised if I aspire to play for as long as I can. I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done, I think only Ashwin the Indian cricketer called time. That's it."

The auction saw Ashwin go to the Super Kings, fetching ₹9.75 crore.
