Team India batter Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma candidly spoke about Virat Kohli's Test retirement, claiming that it hurts emotionally that they will no longer be able to see him in whites. Nevertheless, Rajkumar hailed for whatever the veteran cricketer has done for Indian cricket.

On May 10, Saturday, reports had emerged that the 36-year-old had communicated to the BCCI about wanting to retire from Test cricket. On Monday, the veteran put out a lengthy Instagram post, claiming how it was not easy to walk off from the format. However, Kohli said the timing feels right and is proud of everything he gave for.

Speaking to ANI News, Sharma said:

"I salute him for his tremendous contribution to Indian Cricket and as a coach, I am proud of him for what he has done for the country and the example he has set for the youngsters. Emotionally, it hurts that we won't be seeing him in whites again for the country. I appreciate and back his decision."

When asked how long will Kohli continue playing ODIs, Sharma stated that he sees him playing the 2027 World Cup and lifting the trophy.

"Hopefully, he will be there to win the ODI World Cup for India and he will be 100 per cent committed to it."
