Mumbai : Divine Child rallied to beat Bright Star 4-1 for the girls’ under-9 title, while Vibgyor won the corresponding boys crown in a 4-3 thriller, in the Don Bosco Platinum Jubilee Inter-School Basketball tournament, at Matunga on Tuesday.

Struggling after a scoreless first quarter and trailing 0-1 at half-time when Divija gave Bright Star a surprise advantage, Divine Child launched a second half comeback to surge to a 2-1 lead in the third quarter and sealed victory after dominating the fourth and final quarter with Shubhra Murkar scoring all four points, two each in the third and last quarters.

Following a barren first half, Vibgyor led Don Bosco 2-1 at the end of the third quarter in the boys’ under-9 final before Kavya Tripathi fired the decisive basket in the final quarter even as Austin Nadal kept Bosco’s hopes alive with a crucial basket. Don Bosco ‘A’ and Bombay Scottish, Mahim helped themselves to the boys and girls’ under-11 titles, following thrilling wins. Trailing 4-9 in the first quarter, the hosts fought back brilliantly to lead 17-15 at half time before surging to a 26-20 lead in the third quarter and dominated St. Joseph’s, Wadala in the final quarter for an exciting 36-30 victory.
